About me

My Journey as an artist began at a young age and like any child I would spend hours doodling, mainly stick men and drawing from books and comics, generally immersing myself in my own creative world; you have to start somewhere, right. Throughout school I continued my art, slowly progressing and improving my skills. I began to focus on, not just technique, but also composition, layout and presentation. Although I consider myself largely a self-taught artist, I decided to study commercial art which covered all those aspects of art and it also polished the skills I already had and, subsequently, in 1999 I was awarded a Diploma in Commercial Art for my efforts.

And so I continued to paint and draw anything that inspired me, but my subject matter was random and I found myself aimlessly plodding along with no real direction. Then I had a eureka moment! As I have always had a love of animals, especially wildlife, I decided to create a few examples of pet portraits and exhibit them at a local crafts centre. To my great surprise my pet portraits drew immediate interest and resulted in receiving several commissions.  And so my business was born.

So over the past few years I have worked with people, from all over the country and also outside of the UK (US and Canada), that have commissioned me to paint or draw their pet or favourite wildlife animal.

Although I mainly accept commissions for pet portraits, I still continue to enjoy the freedom of painting whatever I like such as landscapes, which usually include an animal or two. Long may it continue...
